Museum Barthélémy Thimonnier

Installed the access in the small house where lived and died the inventor of the sewing machine, it took seat in the vault and the buildings of the rural ex-hospital of Amplepuis. On 2000 m ² exposure, the Museum recalls:

The evolution of the sewing machine since the invention of Barthelemy Thimonnier until " the computer of couture" (more than 100 exposed machines),
The evolution of the cycle since " the machine to run (draisienne) until the carbon bicycle (80 models).

Multiple exposures, renewed every 6 months, supplement this discovery of the techniques of the seam and the bicycle to which many scenes life size add: the washerwoman, the ironer, the dressmaker, the tailor, the modiste, the middle-class woman in her living room of 1865… and two weaving looms.

Discover the Castle Rochefort

The lake of the Fir trees

Located in the middle of a base of leisures within a green framework of medium mountains.

Created in 1979, the lake of the Fir trees, with 70 kilometers in the south-west of Lyon, is vast stretch of water on the Kidneys. With a surface of 38 hectares, this entirely artificial lake lays out very complete equipment: base nautical, restaurants, beach, riding schools… As many small more which makes the difference.

Be wary however of the water quality which is sometimes not exemplary and especially, comply with yourself well the safety regulations and the watery beaconing. Indeed, some dangerous currents and other swirls could surprise you apart from the zones of supervised bathe.

The camp-site contiguous to the lake is also a possibility to plan to pass a week end to the countryside to a few tens of kilometers of the center of Lyon. Of a positive ratio price quality, it enables you to profit from the water level and the hiking trails marked out.
