Lamure-sur-azergues

Located at 50 km in the North-West of Lyon, at 25 km in the west of Villefranche on the Saone, at the bottom of the collar of Echarmeaux, Lamure sur Azergues is a commune of 1159 inhabitants, chief town of canton of the high valley of Azergues. Near to the wine Beaujolais wine (Be worth in Beaujolais wine being one of the communes bordering), its space is divided between agriculture and forests what is favourable with the walks.

This framework also attracts many people, secondary residents or holiday makers, leading the population to double during the summer.

The country holidays are quite present since several pedestrian paths make it possible to discover splendid points of view of the valley of Azergues and of the Beaujolais wine. Moreover, each year, excursions are organized in the canton.

In Lamure even or in its surroundings, various structures (rural hotels, lodgings, camp-site,…) can accomodate the tourists. Further information is available in the heading tourism.

The common one also has a sporting vocation. Various important demonstrations proceed every year in the commune (hill climbs of cars, motocross, impossible rise).

Community life is also very dynamic about thirty of the associations works within the commune.

The commune of Lamure on Azergues, its river, this valley surrounded by forests are d' as much; assets so that residents or tourists find there or there discover the softness of living.

While choosing the circuit of the yellow roe-deer, you will discover a more agricultural character of Lamure. Moreover, the uneven ones are less important, since this circuit is limited to the first slopes of the valley.

Apart from the wooded passage of Fay Romagnan in Meyrol, the circuit curves in the meadows and the grounds. In Meyrol, you will forsake the red circuit which can bring back to you directly to village in the event of bad weather, to direct you towards a tunnel under the railway and a footbridge on l' Azergues.

To the Dascut mill, you will cross the secondary road in direction of Arnauds, where you will find also the path 15 km of Grandris. In Arnauds, after the passage in front of the vault Roch Saint, you will go up gradually to the hamlet of Panissière to reach Baculy thereafter and the Castle of Pramenoux. From there, you will be able is to go down again directly on Lamure or to continue in direction of Saint Nizier d' Azergues (to add 2 km) through a sector timbered by the barn with the Prince and Cantin where you will find the circuit then 21 km of Nizier Saint symbolized by a red viaduct. The return to Lamure being done by a splendid descent towards Damné.

On approximately 8,5 Kms, the blue circuit brings you to the source of the Three Notaries (702 m) while skirting the brook of Nipple, then returns towards the Borsat Cross and the village while passing by Ronzière.

At the beginning of the level crossing (385 m), the asphalt road then a dirt track peacefully skirts this brook before to raise abruptly to reach its source. From this moment, this is a long descent towards Ronzière that the old ones call also the Dish of Sapey (place of junction with the Prune circuit). If you wish it, you will be able to continue your ballade while following this Prune roe-deer: it will bring you at the end of the red circuit or the yellow circuit (to add for the red 7 km moreover, or for yellow 12 or 14 km from the platform of Ronzière). Otherwise, if you continue the blue circuit, that will bring you to the cross Borsat (high place of the motor bike cross-country race and the impossible rise), before going down again towards the village by the Béroud Cross.

By borrowing the circuit of the roe-deer plum, this is in the final analysis three circuits which offer to you. Once arrived at the platform of Ronzière, you can:

• To return directly to the village by the blue circuit while passing by the Cross Borsat and its motor bike cross-country race (5 km on the whole).

• To continue the path plum to find the yellow and red roe-deers low. The red circuit will bring back for you on village (10 km on the whole), whereas the yellow path leads you the another side of the valley towards the castle of Pramenoux (15 or 17 km on the whole).

The circuit of the green roe-deer can be qualified of digestive walk after a meal in one of the restaurants lamuriens. Entirely tarred, thisthe standard family walk with poussette, which will gently bring you to the Cross of the Wheel. You will have at this place a higher vision on the valley of Azergues and the village. The return will be done while skirting the railway and Azergues.

Present in many topoguides, the red circuit is the base of the pedestrian paths lamuriens. After the level crossing, you will pass by the allotment of Reynard to go up gradually to the farm of Bottières. From this moment, until the cross Rammer, this path is common with the yellow circuit (30 km) of Claveisolles symbolized by a small fir tree.

With the Pilon cross you will join the GR76, then the collar of the Montmain Cross to two steps of the wine boroughs of Pérréon and of Be worth in Beaujolais wine. While following this watershed, you will be able, to admire this wine beaujolais wine and the valley of the Saone, when the forest releases you the landscape.

At the point highest of this watershed, the circuit of the white roe-deer enables you to return directly on Lamure by the platform of Ronzière and the end of the blue circuit. But also this Blanc roe-deer brings you to the vestiges of the Roman camp d' Auguel at the top of the Pyramid.

By continuing the red circuit, you will find an asphalt road which leads to the television relay station of Cyr Saint Chatoux. Very quickly, you will forsake it to take again a forest road where you will find also an arrowing in direction opposed concerning the circuit of Cyr Saint Chatoux (a yellow sheep). After a long descent, you will pass by the Desplaces farm to Vanel before continuing towards Fay Romagnan and the hamlet of Meyrol. From this place, instead of returning on the village, you can continue with the circuit of the yellow roe-deer in direction of the castle of Pramenoux (to add 4 or 6 km).
