 The area of Montendre has a rich and diversified environment, as the classification in ZNIEFF testifies some to the peat bog of the lake Baron-Desqueyroux. This medium, very selective for the plants, shelters rare species like the rossolis and will drosera it.

Among the treasures which our countryside conceals, one can also see, with the liking of a walk, on a slope, in an underwood, in the middle of a meadow or of a marsh, astonishing flowers, the wild orchises… The many hiking trails which traverse High Saintonge will make you discover this large variety of landscapes and a still preserved nature.

With the number of its treasures, the ground of Haute Saintonge counts two wonders, the Cognac and Pineau, resulting from the richness of type of vines and the know-how of our vine growers.

The Cognac is a brandy of wine, resulting from a double distillation and out-of-date out of barrels of oak.

Pineau of Charentes is a harmonious mixture of brandy of Cognac and partially fermented grape juice.
