Château de Gordes
Arriving in Gordes, we are surprised by the imposing grandeur of the castle and church overlooking the village, for better protection as in the past, its people and exercise their respective influences. The castle was rebuilt in 1525, already existed in 1031. Well preserved and carefully restored, it binds the architecture of the troubled times of the Middle Ages to the new lifestyle of the Renaissance.
The imposing building was heavily defended by round towers which supports a crown of battlements terrace for artillery, blast walls pierced by three tiers of windows "renaissance" is also noticed on the walls, towers and watchtowers, the openings of guns judiciously distributed. The south facade of the castle opens to the sun facing the old Gordes, behind the fountain, an arched doorway in the wall breakthrough reached through a courtyard to the staircase serving the building.

Open daily from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 a.m and from 2:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m.
Closed December 25 and January 1.
