L’ensemble paroissial de Donnemarie-Dontilly

All-Parish Donnemarie Dontilly located in Seine-et-Marne in the Ile de France region is composed is the Notre Dame and a medieval garden. It is currently the best preserved of the region.

The church dates from the 13th century. Parts were built in the 15th century, as the cloister gallery that leads to the chapel. Formerly the center of the field was a cemetery. It was transformed into medieval garden on the theme "life and death". According to medieval customs, this garden is paradise, with a constitution in twelve rectangles evoking the twelve apostles, but also the twelve months of a year. The edges of these rectangles are made of pink sandstone.

Medicinal plants are cultivated and protected by small bundles of twigs called fagots. Plants such as angelica and lilies are grown in a garden called the garden.
