Château d'Estresse
The castle is built on a terrace held up by a medieval retaining wall on a sheer drop to the Dordogne, so as to defend Beaulieu and the upper valley from invasion by the river (King Eudes stopped the Normans here in 889).
The castle is made up of buildings from the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, and a projecting bretèche can still be seen on the entrance gate.
The castle entered the 20th century in a state of ruin, but has been restored.
It is listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments.
