Tourism Saint-Jean-de-Losne
If you navigate in eastern France, it is likely that you pass by St-Jean-de-Losne. At the junction of the Saone, the Canal de Bourgogne and Canal du Rhône au Rhin, the smallest city in France (36 hectares of land and 20 hectares of water) will welcome you with dignity. The city was born in the 13th century when the Duchy of Burgundy bought the saline de Salins les Bains. To protect the entry of salt in Burgundy, we built a castle, a watchtower and attics. The sale of salt was done in Saint-Jean-de-Losne and this strong economic activity, the city expanded over time. Saint-Jean-de-Losne, once home port for sailors, is now the biggest river port in France inland. Equipped with 350 mooring rings, its port is a place to stop virtually unavoidable. You will find shops, electricity and water at dock, fuel and other services near the water station. The tourist office, located just steps away, is open all year for you.
