Tourism Evreux
Evreux, cultural and administrative capital of the Eure department, is not a typical Norman town probably due to its closeness to Paris. Evreux is famous for its numerous monuments and parks, the most "beautiful city of Normandy" according to Madame de Sevigne.
It is a city rebuilt for more than half after the bombing of 1944 but, fortunately, which has preserved a rich historical, architectural and artistic heritage that let imagine the wealthy past of Evreux and its region.
Thus, the Gallo-Roman remains, the former bishop, the cathedral Notre-Dame, the belfry (or Tour de l’Horloge), the half-timbered houses ... are buildings that are the pride of Evreux city.
It is pleasant to walk the green line above the town of Evreux, or walk along the Iton river in the city centre.
