Welcome to saint-nicolas-de-la-grave

History and legendary, the castle is mentioned in the charter established in 1135 between the Abbots of Moissac and the Viscounts of Lomagne. At that time, the Garonne ran with its feet and its role of defense was obvious.
Proximity, the boulevard of the Ditches, the street of the Hold and the tap of Auriol, reference mark of pirates, carry testimony from there.
The northern wing rests on a construction former in 1135. The wing Is and the tower known as " of Anglais" are allotted to Richard Lion-hearted who, with the return of crusade, would have lived the castle at the end of XIInd century.
The western wing and its two turns are due to the Abbot Bertrand de Montaigu between 1230 and 1295. In the middle of the XIXth century, two turns were not crowned and the castle accomodated, in addition to the Town hall always present, the Gendarmerie and the Elementary school respectively replaced by Perception and the Post office.

Among the 3 churches present in the village, largest is located on the place.
Built at the XIIIrd century, the primitive church was seriously damaged by the wars of religion. Rebuilt, it is a beautiful vessel with only one nave prolonged by an apse with cut sides. Its gate is of Renaissance style.
As for the bell-tower, it is used as porch, and is composed by a tower square and buttressed by the enormous buttresses, it passes to the octagonal form a little higher. You would believe the windows which bore it with semicircular arch, they are however ogival. The whole is overcome a hurled arrow, with 45 meters.
Furniture conceals marble a baptismal gadroon tank of Sarrancolin, a wood reliquary gilded of the XVIIth century reporting the life of Ansbert saint and a cross of procession of XVIth century.

Located at the confluence of the Tarn and the Garonne, which the splendid green hills of Boudou overhang, with a artificial lale of 400 ha, a vast complex with sporting, educational and tourist vocation s' extends on a zone of 25 ha.
