Le crotoy

Le Crotoy is on a ground moor at the edge of the Manche, which gives him a configuration of peninsula.The etymology of the name of the commune would mean “end of the grounds”.

The commune is at 2 hours from Paris, 40 minutes from Amiens and 1 hour of Belgium. It is served by motorway A16, the SNCF (station of Street or Noyelles) and the Railroad of bay of Somme.

Le Crotoy has the characteristic to be a sand beach exposed end full Southern (where the name of white beach or the contemporary slogan of “Crotoy, southern beach full”).

The village is today an animated seaside resort. Its picturesque centre town, its activity with the year, its beach, its port, its many tourist activities, its capacities of the lodging, its protected site, the Park of Marquenterre, and the natural reserve of bay constitute undoubtedly important assets. An important network of cycle tracks serves Le Crotoy.

• The Saint-Pierre church, in particular for hit turn-frontage of XIII century, and its interior. You can discover there an old plan of Crotoy with its fortress, a retable of XV recalling the life of Sainte  Honore, of the ex voto in the form of ships

Le Crotoy saw each year an event followed by thousands of people, that transhumance of the sheep of meadows salted of bay of Somme, that the stockbreeders make go up their grazing grounds salted of Bay on the dry land in order to put them at the shelter for the winter.

This is the occasion of a great festival on the port with in particular of the stands of the  local stockbreeders who present their products. Considered for its taste and its smoothness, the lamb of meadows salted of Bay of Somme is a name of the controlled origin (AOC).

The largest estuary of the North of France constitutes an ecological and human whole of very first order recognized on the international plan. To appreciate its charms fully, it is highly advised asresser with the local guides. The Bay of Somme belongs to the very closed club of most beautiful bays of the world.

• The Ornithological park of Marquenterre: SAINT-QUENTIN-EN - TOURMONT

In the middle of the natural reserve of Bay of Somme, the park of Marquenterre is a stopover privileged for many migratory birds and makes it possible to the visitors to observe them in all quietude.

• The House of the Bird: LANCHERES

Place impossible to circumvent for an initiation with ornithology. More than 200 species of birds of Bay of Somme or the Park of Marquenterre are represented there. Spectacle of raptors in coasting flight every day.

• The Strong Castle of RAMBURES:

Feudal fortress of XV century, historic building furnished and classified since 1840 with the military architecture of the end of the Middle Ages.
