Welcome to feurs

The ground of Feurs delivered many Gallo-Roman objects and monuments of quality which make it possible to recall the history of the made city of periods of glory and decline.

• A Gallo-Roman city

After the conquest, Gaulle becomes Roman. In our Ségusiave country, the Gallic village builds in edge of the Loire transorme downtown important Gallo-Roman, the Ségusiavorum Forum. Since last century of research are made to find in our ground the print of this period.

Recent discoveries updated a forum, many mosaics, statuettes, concise inscriptions, furnace of potter…. without counting the multiple fragments or complete vases of sigillée or common ceramics.

Museum of the archaeology which recalls the historical past of the city thanks to in particular all the Gallo-Roman objects collected at the time of the various excavations carried out. The museum proposes 3 permanent exposures including one devoted to the archaeology, another on the horse and finally one on beautiful arts. Each year, the museum proposes 3 or 4 temporary exhibitions.

Within Forez, territory labellized Pays of Art and History, rich religious heritage in our cities and our villages.

Restored tower, last vestige of a feudal castle, which was called about 1452, Versailles of the Counts of Drill. If you are courageous, the rise of the 93 steps, offers to 22m height, a panoramic sight on the Mounts of the Lyonese, the Plain of Feurs with the Loire and the Mountains of the Evening.
