Discover Lalevade-d'Ardèche

Lalevade d' Ardèche owes its success with its situation privileged in the valley of Ardeche: the town makes the connection between the Mountain Ardéchoise, Aubenas and the Cevennes. It is the borough centers high valley of Ardeche. Presenting an altitude relatively low and a micro very favorable climate (approximately 300 days of sunning per year), located in the middle of a picturesque and varied area, Lalevade is an ideal base for resting and distracting holidays.

The environment in Lalevade is marked since always by the presence of water: the commune is installed in a small plain of the Ardèche river formed by the displacement of a meander, after the narrow part of Bridge of Labeaume. Formerly, Lalevade was a construction across Ardeche making it possible to bring the water of the river towards the “béal”, small channel with weak slope, which supplied the mill to grind dry sweet chestnuts, wheat and other cereals. You find three more béalières maintained traditionally in Lalevade.

Prades is perched on a modest eminence dominating the small valley of Salindre. A natural wealth pradoise is the medicinal spring of Vernet, always in exploitation. You will walk in the middle of the village, in a pleasant park, where the 36 stations d' a way of cross lead to two vaults raised in opposite. You will discover in against-low village, the castle of Montseverny (XV-XVI), recognizable with his gross tower, his two watch towers and his many loopholes. Prades is a small commune. You will find in Lalevade all the trade and the services which you will need. Many orchards are present on the commune, you will be able to thus taste in season: apricots, fishings, pears, apples… and of tasty fruit juices.

Marked out ways and paths furrow the commune of Lalevade to join the mountains of the Cevennes: in the Cevennes, the footpaths often borrow the drailles and the calades. The drailles are the old ways of transhumance, borderedby two walls so that the herds do not scatter. As for the calades, they are ways paved with the hand.

Circuit of Terrisses: course very often shaded through the southern and western hills around Lalevade. You has from the points of view on the valleys of Salyndre, Lignon and L' Ardeche.
The circuit of Réjus-Rousserol curves with the top of Pont-de-Labeaume and offers beautiful prospects on the castle for Ventadour.
Circuit borrowing a Roman way to go up in Nieigles: Nieigles kept any sound charms of a ground of legend and d' history more than thousand-year-old. The church is of Romance style.

The leisures in Lalevade-d'Ardèche

Associations of Lalevade propose many leisures:

Hiking in the hills;

Parts of balls or tennis;

Fish in Ardeche; rest and relaxation on its banks. In project: a ludic base including an arranged bathe, a course of canoe-kayak and a surface of picnic.

The church and the hamlet of Nieigles belongs to the commune of Pont of Labeaume since 1903. This historical chief work remainder however closely related to Lalevade since the village of Nieigles is the cradle of the two current communes: Pont de Labeaume and Lalevade d' Ardeche.

In spring, l' Ardeche is ideal for the descent in the canoe-kayak.

Discovering Lalevade and it surroundings

Lalevade of Ardeche is with a few kilometers only from Aubenas: city equipped well with the many shops and multiple services.

The fortress of Ventadour

The castle of Castrevieille

Jaujac: picturesque village with the houses of fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth century, in the great animated place the days of fair and market, Jaujac is with the foot of the " cross of Jaujac" , volcanic cone with the crater " égueulé".

The castle of Bruget is visited and that of Castrevieille accomodates demonstrations.
