The village of Le Mayet-de-Montagne is today the most important town of the Bourbon's Mountain. Also there are several Gallo-Roman vestiges on the old roman road that used to link Vichy to Feurs. There is also a fortified castle linked to the one of Montgilbert. The monks of the Monchaud priory laid out the pond that still exists today.
