Welcome to the country of aigre

Gently nipple in the East and preceding the Charente-Maritime in the West, the Country of Aigre offers a very varied without contrast violate  whole of landscapes strewn with villages and characteristic hamlets.

Built on marshy grounds, bathed by the Osme, small river bordered of houses with footbridges and small gardens. Aigre invites to the dawdling.

The Country of Aigre is rich in the treasures of its history:

Tusson, protected site, where remained Marguerite de Vallois, Reine of Navarre. Saint-Fraigne, its transitory gardens of Natural Isle with its single vegetable works which renew the topic every year. Its museum of  the public school. Its church " Frescos of Louis MAZETIER" (painted with the yellow of the egg) classified in the UNESCO.

Rue des boards and along N736, two houses of the XIX century have each one pigeon and laundrette.

The castle located at the locality Crève-Cœur was built after 1870 in the place of a castle which the buildings were laid out around a square court.

The current parish church Saint-Pierre was built in 1620, then in 1868 but sagging in 1870 and is rebuilt from 1874 to 1877.

The bell-tower with arrow in masonry was completed in 1882.
