Banyuls

Between Perpignan and the Spanish border, in 10 minutes of Collioure, nested between sea and mountains, Banyuls welcomes you the feet in the water. Maillol, painter sculptor born in Banyuls and of international repute, is the emblem. In the calm one of the back country, a museum pays homage in the house to him where he lived as from 1910. Several of its works are exposed in the city, of which one of its greater achievements, war memorials pacifist. While arriving to Banyuls, you cannot miss the small white blazing chapel perched at the top of a hill which seems to take care on the village. It was built in 1863 by Bonaventure Reig, after a pilgrimage with Notre Dame of Salette in Isere. A small path allows you to reach it foot or in the car. In the middle of the vines and cork oaks, the vault offers to you with its feet a single panorama on Banyuls, its soil and all the Vermilion Coast.
