Grand parc de Miribel-Jonage

Grand Miribel-Jonage or Miribel-Jonage, is a park covering about 2200 hectares on the outskirts of Lyon. Between 1848 and 1857 has deepened the navigation channel Miribel that encircles the park to the north and between 1892 and 1899, the channel Jonage intended to feed the hydroelectric Cusset in Villeurbanne. Until the first half of the twentieth century, the site is ignored by local authorities. In 1968 Symalim is created, the Joint Association for the Development and Management of Large Miribel Jonage Park, which includes eleven municipalities bordering the project and the two departments concerned: the Rhone and Ain. The facilities are progressive: the rock climbing in 1977, the tennis court in 1978, the bike path in 1982 and golf in 1985. In 1991, Greater Lyon, under the leadership of Michael Black, ranks the site as "immutable area. In 1993 the charter aim of the project was signed between the partners working on the site: the State, the two councils of the Rhone and Ain, the municipalities of Symalim, EDF and the agency water. Large real estate projects that had once accompanied the development of the recreation area are abandoned. It is the appreciation of nature is accepted. The charter will mark the park's urban space and avoid uncontrolled freedoms. The site should be gradually converted to become a "natural site".
