Musée Granet d'Aix-en-Provence
Regional Museum associated with the National Museums, the Granet museum has gradually turned to modern art, through beautiful exhibitions of Cézanne, Picasso and Surrealism. The Granet museum has benefited from the donation of the collector Philippe Meyer which includes works of art by Chardin, Cezanne and Guardi.
Some of these works are presented in the department of modern art which includes works of art by Giacometti, Mondrain, Picasso. The permanent collections are rich in Nordic painting, Italian and French from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century, such as Ingres, Constantin, Rembrandt, Rubens and the Master of Flémalle. One room is devoted to works of art by the painter Granet, during his period of meditative landscapes and sometimes melancholic.
The museum also has archaeological pieces and statues, including Chastel and Truphème. Guided tours for adults or children are held throughout the year, as well as conferences and workshops.
