Cathédrale Sainte-Croix d'Orléans
This is the fourth century that the first church was built in the city of Orleans. Destroyed in the tenth century, it was replaced by a Romanesque church, one of the largest in France. But in 1278, some collapsed. A new structure thus takes over. Construction, Gothic last two centuries. In 1568, the Huguenots blow the pillars of the cross. This leads to the ruin of the transept.
In 1599, Henri IV decided to finance the reconstruction of the royal treasury. The site was opened in 1601. During the late eighteenth century, it was the Revolution that will suspend. The inauguration of the Cathedral takes place in 1829, the 400th anniversary of the issuance of Orleans by Joan of Arc.
