Château du Breuil

Located in the comune of Le Breuil-en-Auge inside the department of Calvados, Château du Breuil was transformed into a famous Calvados distillery open to visitors. Classified historical monument since 1979, this magnificent Castle is, with its half-timbering and pink tiles, one of the finest examples of architectural heritage in the region of Normandy. Built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries at the center of the Pays d'Auge, the Chateau du Breuil is situated in the middle of a park with magnificent trees.

Its established himself in the middle of apple orchards. It is not possible to visit the castle since it had private apartments. But since 1954, a prestigious distillery housed, in the park of the Château du Breuil, offers us the possibility to take part in guided tours of the distillery and a tasting (in the old press) of the famous alcohol of the department: The Calvados. A store and tasting room of Calvados are also next to the castle, facing the lake.
