Lot-et-Garonne is a French department that is part of the Aquitaine region. It is surrounded by the departments of Lot, Tarn-et-Garonne, Gers, Landes, Gironde and Dordogne. The main cities are Agen, Marmande, Nérac and Villeneuve-sur-Lot.
The tourism industry is mainly concentrated on outdoor activities with green tourism and the ‘green road’ a cycling track of 87km long along the Garonne Canal. The ‘Cycling road’ or Véloroute in French, along the Lot Valley, and river holidays on the Garonne Canal and the Canal du midi that connect the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. Woods, ‘causses’ and plateaus form the landscapes of the department as well as the vineyards of the Buzet and the Armagnac. Lot-et-Garonne is also the land of ‘Bastides’ and of the art of living. The castles of Duras and Bonaguil, the Romanesque churches, simple villages or towns such as Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Agen and Buzet-sur-Baïse are sites not to be missed.
Cultural events happening in Lot-et-Garonne are ‘Le grand Pruneau Show’ in Agen, Ferias in Casteljaloux, the Lyrical Festival on the Marmandais and the Theatre Festival in Bonaguil-Fumel.
