Loiret is a French department that is belong to the Centre region of France. Le main cities are Orléans, Montargis and Pithiviers.
The town of Orleans possesses numerous historical vestiges and heritage, the Cathedral of Orleans or Jeanne d’Arc’s house, which has a museum and exhibitions. Other religious buildings as well as the Pont Royal are also attractive sites. In addition, the castle of Augerville in Augerville-la-Rivière; the castle of Beaugency with the Orleanese Art and tradition Museum and the castle of Bellegarde.
The Val de Loire, listed as world heritage by UNESCO, offers beautiful and rare landscapes. The concept ‘Loire à vélo’ or Loire by bike in English, gives the possibility to discover the area by bike or by foot. The train stations are linked to the cycling paths, which makes an easy access to them.
Finally, among the cultural events, the festivals in the area are: the Loire festival in Orleans, the Jazz Festival in Orleans and the Festicolor Festival in Meung-sur-Loire.
