In 1998, a painter and old building lover bought the castle of Gargilesse-Dampierre and has started to renovate and to convert it into a modern art gallery. This prestigious site was inaugurated in 1999.

The Romanesque church

The Romanesque style church of Gargilesse-Dampierre is dedicated to Notre-Dame. It was built in the 12th century and is made of chalk.

The mill

Not far from the centre of the village is a hamlet called Le Moulin de Gargilesse (The Mill of Gargilesse). The ancient mill is now used to produce electricity. This is a suitable and pleasant place to fish and swim.
