Saint-Fergeux

The village located on the two sides of a valley, was a perfect place for two "maisons-fortes", one on the top of a hill, to the East, called "Castle-on-the-Top", the other one nested in the valley and surrounded by springs and ditches, called "Castle-down-below". One was rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century, recently transformed in "Maison de la Culture", the other one was totally destroyed and replaced by the buildings of a big farm.

Sévigny-Waleppe

The castle of Sévigny (Sévigny-Waleppe) stands up on a picturesque way near the street of the church. The gardens goes towards the St-Leu Fountain. This position in the village centre, is the location of the primitive domain, dating back from the origin. In its current state, it is composed by a dwell, with two floors, skylights overcomed by a gray roofing, decorated with a recent pediment, a turret , mouldings and a sharp roofing. A stairway goes down to the terrace, is dated 1775.

Museum Verlaine

In 1880 Verlaine rented a house in Juniville, rue de l'Aby, opposite to the Lion d'Or's Inn. The hostel was restored by Mrs Marcelle Ponsinet with all the house furnishings and objects that Verlaine knew. He came here to sit, drink, write and draw on the long table. It is a charming place, impregnated by the presence of the poet. Open everyday from 1st November to March 31, from 14 to 17. 1st April to October 31 on Tuesdays and Sundays from 14 to 18. Open in the morning on request. Closed on Mondays.
