Tourism in chambon-sur-lignon

In the Saint Jeures/Tence and the Mas de Tence areas, you will discover many granite crosses on the side of the roads such as the ones in Saint Jeures and Mendigoules. Some are dating from the 19th century.

The fountaines located in villages are made of local stone such as granite or basalt.

In Chambon: a large fountain is placed in the heart of the village as well as many smaller ones scattered around the village which are actionned by a turning pump.

In Tence: The new fountain facing the town hall was made in 2005.

In Mazet: The fountain made of granite is located in the in a central crossroad.

In Saint Jeures: one is located in the centre of a crossroad and a local 'bachat' is locatd in front of the church.

The mills were used until  WWII to make bread and to made the cattle food.

The strengh og the water was also used in sawmills. In the 19th century, few mills were used in silk making, some are now transformed as a hydroelectric mill.

Mount Mezenc marks the border between Ardeche and Haute-Loire. Third summit of the 'Massif Central', this former volcano is also the highest of all the mount around, called the 'Sucs de l'espace Mezenc Gerbier'. it is also the highest summit of the north of Cevennes.
