Details | Follow the peaceful River Vilaine, stopping en route to visit the pretty town of Rennes, the capital of Brittany. Dinan is a perfect example of a medieval town on the banks of the River Rance. Its castle and 13th century ramparts are best viewed from the water. Plenty of opportunities exist along your route for on-shore fun; tennis and horse-riding at Betton, swimming at Lehon’s open air swimming pool and picnics on the lake at Combourg. Stop in Léhon
Lehon was recently awarded the status of 'Small City with Character", which means it is in the top 30 most beautiful places in Brittany. The only street leading to the ruined castle on the hill to the small humpback bridge over the river passes over the abbey church along the way. The street is pedestrianized and the stones are filled with flowers all summer. There is a heated outdoor pool and a traditional bakery here on the top of the village, making it an ideal place to stay overnight.

Stop in Saint-Domineuc
A small town with all services and shops and a corner to tie up to visit the Zoo and Castle of Bourbansais. Although the village primarily developed in the late 19th century, it dates from the Neolithic period and the majority of buildings are located along the Rue Nationale, which is the old road between Rennes and Saint Malo. Along the moorings, an area has been landscaped for walking and jogging.

Tinteniac has a good spot to moor here. The village has a range of shops and services. There are beautiful houses of 15th and 16th century.

Stop in Saint Germain-sur-Ille
Saint Germain-sur-Ille is a relaxing place to stop for the night and although there is not much in here, this is a popular fishing and there are many corners pleasant to walk. The town itself is about 1 km and there are beautiful views over the valley from the hill, near the post office.

Stop in Betton
An important city in Roman times, the city became an early christiannisée around 470 AD by the Gallo-Roman missionaries who built an monastaire here and some elements of it remain. The first church on the site was burned in 1590. The monks moved to the chapel of the priory of the abbey of Melaine, a few meters north of the church. The city is very proud to have recently received the third flower - which is a sign of recognition of the beautiful flower arrangements and flower borders within the city. The railway lines run close to the city allowing you to easily visit the area. There is a supermarket here and the city also has a playground for children.

Stop in Rennes
Rennes is the regional capital of Brittany and it is a city rich in architecture, with examples dating from the 16th century to today. It has a pleasant old quarter where you will find a large market on Saturdays that is claimed to be one of the largest in France.
What to see / visit in Rennes:
- The western end of the Rue de la Monnaie where you'll find the Portes Mordelaises,
- The city walls
- The Cathédrale of St-Pierre
- The Church of St. Saviour
- The church of St. Germain
- The Garden of Thabor in the rue du Paris has fountains, a carousel and oddly the "caves of hell". The rose garden alone hosts more than 1700 varieties. In July, you may be able to attend one of the concerts given here.
- The Museum of Fine Arts (housed in the old university) has excellent art galleries and specializes in impressionist views of Normandy by Boudin and Sisley, but also has works by Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli. The British Museum is located in the same building.

Stop in Messac
The city is home to interesting local churches and has some beautiful places in the country, which proved perfect for a walk and discover the natural beauty of the region. Today the city is classified as "green tourist station 'thanks to its excellent tourist and sporting facilities. Train station in Messac, facilitates access to the city and offers the opportunity to explore the rest of the region.
