The Notre-Dame-des-Miracles Basilica is a major building and one of the most beautiful Romanesque church of the Cantal department. Built at the beginning of the 12th century, it is made of volcanic stones, which gives to it an soft aspect of red and grey colour. 

The Puy Saint-Mary chapel was built in the 19th century. It is based on the foundations of an medieval chapel dedicated to Saint-Mary. the chapel looms over the town and the views there are remarkable. The view stretches beyond the Dordogne Gorges until the 'Monédières' and the Mounts of Correze, towards the volcanoes chain from Sancy to 'Puy du Cantal'.

The Saint-Pierre monastery was founded in the 6th century and rebuilt in the 9th century when the charters of the Sens priory was renewed.

The first stone of the City Hall in Mauriac was put in 1924 after the destruction of the monastery church, destroyed during the Revolution.
