The commune of Talmas is located on the Northern Picardy Plate, along the Trunk road 25, halfway between Amiens and Doullens. Its territory, which extends on 1920 hectares, is crossed by the meridian line of Paris.
In the course of the centuries, the number of inhabitants fluctuated, exceeding the 1700 at the XIXème century, to reach its level low, 444 inhabitants, at the time of the census of 1962. Today, the population rises with 1062 inhabitants, including his hamlet of Valley of Houses (46 inhabitants) distant of hardly three kilometers. Since the Eighties, Talmas makes new great strides thanks to the proximity of Amiens where most of its population works, which chose this village like place of residence and which places it of many inhabitants third locality of the Villers-Scrap-metal canton. There does not remain about it less one village with strong agricultural tradition.
