Welcome to the pays of orpierrois

The medieval village occupied a strategic and leaned palce on the mountain and girdled ramparts.

Orpierre preserved its medieval aspect with its Grand' Rue, its Drailles, its roofed passageways, its old doors, its fountains, the House of the Prince, the residence of the Bonnets and Autard de Bragard.

High place of the climbing with more than 500 ways equipped, various difficulties (3 with 8c), Orpierre offers multiple facets with hiking (Gold GR946 and Paths), circuits VTT marked out, the botanical path and the path of Tour of village.

Place chief of canton, the life of village is always animated there, of the small shops to the coffee terraces while passing through the players of game of bowls… what to satisfy all the publics.

Lagrand sets up proudly on a vast plate suspended, “old Gallic oppidum” at the entry of the valley of Céans a such joint with, also, the valleys of Blaisance and Büech. Village of character with its houses with arcades, its church of XII century classified with the historic buildings.

The town hall is likely to be sheltered in the old “castle of the Hugues” built at the XIII century on the model of the middle-class residences of Provence by this family of new rich person which had made fortune in Marseilles in the trade. The more recent extension of the village was done a little low in the valley thus establishing the link with Pont Lagrand in edge of Buëch.

Do not look for the village! Here you will see certainly more sheep than inhabitants because with these less than 10 hearts, Nossage is one of the smallest communes of France.

It is dispersed on the whole as of its grounds that the activity of the farms maintains the environmental quality, around butts of “Measuring rod-Bouin”, between the foot of the mountain of Chabre and Right Bank of Céans.

Unexpected, and respectful of the softness of big spaces… a landing strip for small private planes!

Small village built on a terrace dominating the valley of Buëch, it is an old stronghold of Mévoullion and required passage between valleys of Buëch and Céans.

On Right Bank of Buëch, the arable lands of this small commune are covered with orchards and recently with lavenders (the culture of the lavender takes again its right there)

A little in the variation of the valley of Blaissance, the village of Chanousse is perched on a hillock.The another side of the torrent, the hamlet of Courtilles in a scented small valley of aromatic natural and cultivated plants, on sale direct with the farm.

Village “ crib of Provence” perched to the top of the valley of Blaisance, that church is decorated of an original sundial… Other side, the hamlet of Courtilles in a scented small valley of aromatic plants shelters the Vault of Saint Anne with nearly 800 m high, and celebrates its festival on July 26.

Leave to discovered Orpierrois, for a natural stay in family, or for a sporting escapade or of relaxation…

VTT, bicycle touring or hiking of the throats to the peaks, GR946, paths of country, gold paths…

But do not forget to also look in the air, because in addition to the blue of the sky, you will often see there shining delta-plane and parapentes which will have taken off since the mountain of Chabre.
