Details	Situated in the heart of the médoc peninsula, Lacanau is both an immense beach (more than 14 km) on the atlantic coast, a vast 2000 ha lake and an omnipresent pines forest. it is privileged in its geographical situation and a recognised microclimate.

Tourism in Lacanau

Lacanau is a sporty place, thanks to the vast open spaces, the ocean, lakes and forest that allow numerous outdoors activities for active holidays. This is a place for the whole family.

There is a Mickey Club available to small children. For adults and teenagers the possibility to practice water sports such as surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing and canoeing.

For quieter activities, there is three gold courses and three horse riding schools. For paintball lovers a structure is open on the northern beach from April to September.

Discover Lacanau heritage

Lacanau is a summer resort that built in the 20th century, 'Lacanau Ocean' has a picturesque heritage made of old villas all of all size and shapes.

The originality of the architecture can be explained through its conception. Most villas were not designed by architects. Craftstmen and builders, back then, offered a panel of choice in decoration and style to their customers hence the diversity of style.

Rambling in Lacanau

Ramblers are welcome in Lacanau, whether they are following the GR 8 or the marked footpaths, they will come across interesting landscapes. The not to be missed site is the Cousseau Pond a natural protected reserve.

Open throughout the year, the tour is free on 610 ha of land where you will see otters, falcons, circaetes etc...

In July/August, the Council of Gironde offers free guided tours. Off season, the SEPANSO organises guided tours of different natural sites in the department.
