Le Manoir de la Peignie

The castle was built in 1204 by the lord of La Peignie, viscount of Merdrignac. It was fitted with defensive walls and the surrounding wall was crowned with battlements, machicolations and defensive works.

A moat surrounded the entire construction and was accessed by a drawbridge with a watchtower and a sentry walk at each corner.
