Bastion de l'Etendard
The Bastion de l'Etendard is located in Bonifacio in Corsica. This is the most representative building of this city. Giving the impression of being in front of a castle, it is actually an enormous fortress overlooking the harbor.
The Bastion de l'Etendard was built in the thirteenth century by the Genoese and served as a defense to protect access to the port of Genoa, one door for entry into the city. However, he was destroyed in the sixteenth century by the French-Turkish, but was rebuilt quickly. Overall, the building was rebuilt on the same model, but still includes the new fortifications stronger.
Visitors can also visit the memorial that is located inside the Bastion and see the underground rooms to discover the history of the city through various events. They can also walk in the Jardin des Vestiges and enjoy a magnificent view of the cliffs.
