Saignes is part of the district of the same name and district of Mauriac. It is watered by the Sumène and by the streams of the Gane, Etang, of Arragon and of Jauniac. Close of the park of the volcanoes of Auvergne and situated to 480M of altitude, the town benefits from a tempered climate and of an easy access. To natural wealths add innumerable treasures, an artistic and cultural heritage marked by the influence of the Church and feudal. The castle of Saignes, of which it exists again a section of round tower, occupied to the Middle Ages the whole crest of the basaltic boulder around of which was grouped the city. On the boulder dominating the town, rises again the former chapel of the castle. This castle existed again at the time of the counting of January 27 1783.
