Tourism Digne-les-Bains
Digne-les-Bains, with 17 000 inhabitants, is the main city of the Alpes de Haute-Provence department. The city is the capital of lavender, the symbol of the region of Provence. Digne-les-Bains is known for its great living environment with more than 300 days of sunshine each year and its outstanding location which allows its residents and tourists to enjoy clean air, exceptional water and a protected nature.
Digne-les-Bains and its history are related to its thermal waters that have built its reputation since the Antiquity. Indeed, the city has a remarkable hydrography, near three rivers in the heart of the Vallée des Eaux-Chaundes with eight hot springs and one cold spring used for thermal baths. Even today, Digne-les-Bains welcomes about 6,000 spa visitors each year.
Digne-les-Bains has two cathedrals and several museums, including the exhibition center of the geological reserve (“Centre d’exposition de la reserve géologique”). Indeed, the city has a large geological reserve spread over 150,000 hectares.
