The Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne is one of the oldest parks in Europe.
The Monts Domes or Chaine des Puys is over eighty domes and craters overlooking Clermont-Ferrand, with the highest point, Puy de Dôme (1465 m), rated "Great Site of France".
The Monts Dore-Sancy, are dotted with lakes of volcanic origin with a history marked by the largest eruption in Auvergne.
The Monts du Cantal, with the Plomb du Cantal (1858 m) and Puy Mary (1787 m). Cézallier volcanic plateau to 1551 m altitude signal Luguet is a change of scenery. The Artense the confines of the Puy de Dôme and Cantal, offers walks through forests, moors, bogs, rivers, lakes and villages of stone.
