Tourism Centre Corse
The Centre Corse consists of the Corsican town of Corte historic built on a rocky outcrop dominated by a citadel, the upper town is full of character with its old houses lining the cobbled streets. This is the starting point for all excursions: hiking, contemplative walk, and family walks. Cradle of outdoor sports, 40 minutes away from the nearest beaches. Then it's Ascu Valley with its charming and picturesque village and wildlife reserve included in Natura 2000. Then through the Scala di Santa Regina, here Niolo surrounded by the highest peaks of Corsica and whose villages are the highest of the island. Then it's Bozio which is extended by Castagniccia. Finally the Venacais, high pastoral land in forests including those of Noceta/Rospigliani and Vizzanova famous for its pine laricio.
Attractions
In Corte do the heritage tourto visit the old town. Go up to Belvedere where one has a panoramic view of valleys of Restonica and Tavignanu. Explore the Citadelle, built in the fifteenth century where it dominates the city and the Church of the Annunciation with refined interior. Walk to the heights "U Capu Tafunatu" and "A Paglia Orba" in the Niolu. Admire lakes of Melu and Capitellu at the end of the valley Restonica.
For taste
All specialties of this region of shepherds whom you can buy delicious cheeses. Taste the meat of Niolu, the basis of Boziu chestnuts, honey AOC of Ascu, goat cheese and sheep's Venachese, brocciu of Corte and his specialties. At dinner you will enjoy trout, Corsican soup and wild boar sauce.
