Coiled in the valley of Loing at the edge of woods, the village has nothing to envy to the close villages.

Famous commemorative plaques and names mark out its streets and its houses.
The church St Sévère dominates the village and at the bottom of the bell-tower, the tomb stone of a lord of 13th century remains the time when the lords raised hawks in the Bourron castle.

The castle

the-castle

The current castle was built on the foundations of the feudal fortress at the end of 16th and the beginning of the 17th century on the request of François de Sallard.

He was the son-in-law of Cosme Clausse, secretary of the king, owner of the castles of Courances and Fleury-en-Bière.
Its bricks and stones style imitate the courtyard of the White Horse of the castle of Fontainebleau (northern wing). It has two horseshoe staircases on the north and south frontages.

At the 18th century the castle passes to the family de Beringhen which received Stanislas Leczinski and his wife in 1725 for the wedding of their daughter Marie Leczinska with the young king Louis XV.
