Discovery of 'landes de gascogne'

This site is the largest natural protected area owned by the 'Conservatoire du Littoral' on the Basin of Arcachon and of one of the three towns of the park. A former saltern, this site is now a fish farm and a pasture land. Also it is a great ornithological site with great landscapes and history.

This route allows to reach the lagoons, small circular lakes. Surrounding the Gat Mort, a forest opens up on vast moorlands.

The ground water here allows the lagoons to maintain a certain level of water that does not exceed one meter. There are some observatories spots along this tour with great views.

The Demoiselles paths gives explanations to the evolution of the Hostens site. A former brown coal extraction site that has become today a natural site with lakes ideal for leisures and rest.

Length is 3 km and the marking is made out of fossilized wood.

A walk towards the Basin of Arcachon. The Birds Island and the famous sheds 'tchanquées' that were initially built to guard oyster farms. Today they watch over a wildlife territory. 

Numerous birds are living on these lands, which is an ideal place for them.

Quiet activities on River La Leyre are available. Tours can be tailored to your needs by the Graou centre staff.

The discovery can be done alone or in family. A river located in the heart of the natural park of the Landes. Light boats, kayaks and a navigation course given by a professional coach. return by car to a showers and changing rooms. A bar is available.

Here the trees aren't the only vegetal of the Landes Forest. Many other plants are growing here and many animals are living here.

Peat bog, swamps with a rich vegetal and animal widlife, then we will see a landscape of beekeeping.
