Fos-sur-mer

The sea represents an asset of foreground for the commune of Fos-sur-Mer. Fishing and the sail make  the happiness of unconditional of the " Large Bleue" throughout the year. The beaches and the marina which accomodate many visitors and tourists come to supplement this table.
Attribution, at fourteen (14) taken again these last years, of the Blue House European of the Port and the pages confirms the efforts made by the population, associative fabric and the communities, for the protection and the quality of the littoral.
A succession of sand beaches end, maintained and equipped extends on more than 6 kilometers.
* Great Beach
On 400 soft inclined meters, the great beach is equipped with showers and a zone of supervised bathe. This beach is adapted to the practice of the light sail.
* Beach Saint Gervais
Near the Marina, this small beach with weak slope is protected by a sheltered handle.
 * Beach of Cavaou
Longest of the beaches, equipped with showers and toilets, with a carpark free but limited to 500 vehicles (security conditions - proximity industrial sites)
* Beach of the Headlight
A small sand beach and rollers, in the prolongation of the Port dePlaisance.

As astonishing as that can appear, Fos-sur-Mer shelters on its grounds a particularly remarkable ecological site. Ponds, saltworks and marshes accomodate more than 250 species of birds as well as an exceptional flora.
* Ponds
They are in priority " réservés" with the wintering species. All the duck species there are found (Mallard, Chipeau, Milouin, Sarcelle, Macroule). In summer, water belongs to the waders (Héron, Aigrettes, Avocette) which come to nest there, attracted by the peace and the abundance of microphone-shellfish which constitutes the base of their food. Snipes, Plovers or Sparrows are them also, according to the season, of accustomed our ponds.
* The pond of the Stomach
Salt water fresh water pond fed by the canalet which comes from the sea. It is the subject of a vast program of installation. Plantations of trees (palm trees) are immediately envisaged, the refitting of the ways, the installation of places, picnics, bridge on water, tables of orientation, sets of children…
* Marshes
The marshes of the Audience, located on the occupied territory of Sollac are the subject of attentive care. Indeed Sollac chose to develop the 750 hectares nonoccupied by its industrial facilities while joining the " Tuower of Valat". A study was made by this foundation in order to establish an inventory and an evaluation of the biological inheritance. The results were astonishing: the marshes of Sollac constitute a completely particular preserved ecosystem. One finds there meadows salted, ponds, marshes and even of old rice plantations.

 At the time of these excursions, you can observe very many gasolines of trees, flowers and discover rare species, such as the wild orchises.

Rest areas, being integrated perfectly in the site, make it possible to prolong the discussion and the exchange. The marked out archeological sites are, for all the generations, the means of enriching its knowledge.

The proximity of a great industrialo-harbour zone, far from being a handicap, is made profitable in order to develop industrial tourism.
Thus, the visits with accompanying notes on board boat the CISAMPO (capacity of 96 places) is organized all the year. The basins of Fos-sur-Mer, Port-Saint-Louis-of the Rhone accomodate the largest ships of the world: tankers, container ships, ore tankers…
