Tourism - Lorraine



Lorraine is a region of France located in the northeast part of the country, which includes four departments such as Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle and Vosges . Main cities are Nancy, Bar-le-Duc, Metz and Epinal .

The tourism industry in Lorraine has a rich and various heritage. The main tourists attractions are the museums, monuments with castles and historical sites, gastronomy and art crafts.

The region benefits from the tourism industry all year round thanks to the ‘massif des Vosges’ of which a part is listed by UNESCO, in summer tourists attractions focuses more on the religious monuments and art workshops located in Meurthe-et-Moselle. The ‘Land of Glass and Crystal’ includes several villages where this form of art is made, such as Meisenthal that houses a museum, Goetzenbruck de Lemberg or Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche and Baccarat, the earthenware factory of Niderviller a listed historical monument.

Also, since de beginning of the closing of the mines in Lorraine, industrial tourism has developed notably with the museum of the mine in Neufchef, the same happened with the ‘parc du Hauts-Fourneau U4’ in Uckange that is one of the rarest steel industry vestige dating from the 20th century.

Finally, Amnéville-les-Thermes has developed a tourist and leisure park with a spa centre and casino as well as with one of the most beautiful zoo in Europe and the first indoor ski slope of France, the Snow Hall in Amnéville.
