The Landes forest is the biggest in Europe. First it was planted to solidify the marshes then men got attached to it and maintained, exploited, cut and replanted it.

Alone or with your family, by foot, by horse or by bike, take the 'Piste Littorale' and the any footpaths of Ondres and Tarnos.

One of the most important area of Seignanx is its littoral. It is here that the starts the biggest dune line in Europe. Between Ondres and Tarnos there are 8 km of beaches allowing siestas in the sand dunes or refreshing swimming sessions in the sea.

For outdoors lovers, there are several surf schools.

Children will be able to learn how to swim and the fisher men will enjoy the 'surf casting' technique, a very popular way of fishing here.

From castles to bourgeois houses, from fortified churches to typical local farms, the local architecture bring back the way of living of the men and women of the past.

The 'Cité des forges' show the industrial development in Tarnos in the 19th century and of the unions and the working class back then.

Finally, see the 'Frontons' in which the traditional Basque sport is played and that are located in every villages of the region. There are part of the local culture.

The countryside of the 'Seigneur' is a landscape of vineyards and small valleys in which are located numerous small villages.

Pine forests, hardwoods, cornfields, streams and parks are the type of landscapes you will see here, thanks to the many footpaths allowing this natural haven.

In the Barthes of river Adour or in the reserve of the Orx marshes, the wildlife is less visible, the Arremont site or the house in the marshes will allow you to access these wet lands and to observe the migrating and permanent birds.
