Musée de la Tapisserie de Bayeux

In the old seminary of Bayeux, the Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry, house the most famous medieval tapestry, made in the eleventh century. This wool embroidery, on a linen of 70 meters long, is a unique document in the world celebrating the conquest of England by William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy. Listed as "Memory of the World" by UNESCO, this painting was probably embroidered by English monks after the Battle of Hastings October 14, 1066.

On the ground floor of the museum, visitors will have the opportunity to contemplate this tapestry, with 58 scenes explained on the soundtrack of the audio-guide. The first floor of the museum is devoted to William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings. This exhibition give us an idea of life in Normandy at that time. On the top floor there is a cinema room where a fifteen minutes documentary is projected.
