The first steap of this tour  dedicated to the Normandy is Bayeux. Known for its tapestries, the city is situad near the lading beaches. Bayeux has a strong architectural heritage and culurel.


The Tapestry Museum

This museum shelters the most famous tapestry of the Middle Ages. Designed in the eleventh century, this work is classified "Memory of the World" by the UNESCO.

The Normandy American Cemetery

Before concluding this first day, we advise you to visit the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, at 20 minutes north of Bayeux. Above Omaha beach, this place is a small piece of the United States on our French land. Nearly 1,000 American soldiers are buried here.

The Ducal Castle, Caen

This building was built around 1060 by William the Conqueror. The Castle of Caen shelters two museums: the Museum of Normandy and the Museum of the Fine arts.Ideal equation to learn a little more about the area.

The Boards, Deauville

We take back the road to go to Deauville, famous Norman sea resort. The walk « des planches » possesses an international fame, in the same way as the « promenade des Anglais » in Nice. Along the beach, we find the famous bathing huts which bear the name of the celebrities having participated in the Festival of the American movie of Deauville.

The old port, Honfleur

This harbour town is on the south shore of the estuary of the Seine. Its old harbor as well as its houses in facades covered with slates were repeatedly the source of inspiration of big artists such as Gustave Courbet or Claude Monnet.

The museum of modern art André Malraux in Le Havre

The MuMa of Le Havre possesses one of the biggest impressionistic collections of France, just behind the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. It exposes around thirty paintings, among which the works of Monet, Renoir and Matisse.

The cliffs of Etretat

Etretat is a older fishing village became a famous seaside resort during the last century. It owes its reputation to the singular form of the cliffs. This unique and wild landscape has inspired many artists such as Gustave Courbet and Claude Monet.
