Lille, the French Flanders

Church of St. Mary Magdalene, Lille

To start the day in the heart of Lille, we suggest you visit the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. Built in 1233, it was renovated in 2004. Then, you can also stop at one of the architectural landmarks of Lille Opera.

Take a detour to the old exchange. Built in 1652/1653, it illustrates the style of the Flemish Renaissance.

Lille Museum

Then, towards the Lille Museum. Inside, you'll find more than 4,800 works of modern art, contemporary art and art brut (twentieth and twentieth centuries). Many artists have their paintings in this museum as Joan Miró, Georges Braque, Fernand Léger and Picasso.

To end this day, discover the Carillon of the Belfry. This is the famous carillon can be heard in the movie "Welcome to the Sticks."

In the evening, we advise you to taste the local specialties at the restaurant as the small Lille salty or the charlotte junipers.

Arras, the historic capital

Zoo

You will begin the second day by entering the zoo. Inside, it is not less than 350 animals of 70 different species living together. You can see including reptiles, birds and mammals.

Then, towards the Church of St. Martin. This building is the only site listed as a historic monument in the district of Lens.

Museum of Fine Arts in Arras

Then you will enter the Museum of Fine Arts in Arras. Inside, you will discover the finest examples of the history of Arras: archeology ancient, medieval sculptures, Cathedral Treasury, porcelain Arras eighteenth century. You can finish your day photographing the house of Amain Wetz, one of the most typical of the city of Arras buildings.

The day of relaxation

During this third day, you will visit any museum or monument. We suggest you spend a whole day in an amusement park.

You can choose between the Bagatelle Park which offers many activities such as mini-farm, inflatable structures, the carousel or the pedal karts ...

Otherwise, you can visit the Park Aqualud. You can enjoy the splash or the pirate's island.

Or you can enter the Park Dennys. The haunted castle, crazy river, nitro or the furio will brighten your day.

Cambrai, a city with a rich architectural heritage

Matisse museum

Start the new day by visiting the Matisse museum. Created by the famous artist, currently three collections are presented: the Matisse collection, Herbin collection, and Tériade collection. At the end, you are advised to stop at the town hall (built in the mid-sixteenth century) and entering the Church of St. Martin.

Museum Cambrai

Then you go back in time. Upon entering the museum Cambrai, you will discover three main parts: the archeology department, the Department of Fine Arts and Heritage Department. You will see the objects from the prehistoric paintings of Dutch and Flemish artists of the seventeenth century French painters and admire the works of the European Geometric Abstraction spanning a period from 1945 to today.

Vaucelles Abbey

For the last day, you start by entering the International City of lace and fashion. The most contemporary lace (fashion, design, applied arts ...) aspects unfold over 2,500 m². You can easily discover the collections of Dior, Givenchy and Chanel.

To finish this tour towards the Museum of Modern Art. It has collections of paintings, drawings, sculptures and photographs from the sixteenth to the twenty-first centuries.
