Château Royal de Blois
First great site in the Loire Valley to discover on the way from Paris, the Royal Chateau of Blois offers a true panoramic view of art and history of the castles of the Loire Valley and sets a good introduction to their visit.
Residence of 7 kings and 10 queens of France, the Royal Chateau of Blois is a site reminiscent of the power and the daily life at court in the Renaissance, as do testify the royal apartments, furnished and embellished with magnificent decors.
In 1845, it was the first historical monument to be restored. The Royal Chateau of Blois, listed as Museum of France, houses more than 35,000 works of art, presents a section of its collections in the Royal apartments of the François the First’s wing, in the Fine Arts Museum set in the Louis the 12th’s wing, but also during temporary exhibitions.
