Yonne is a French department that is part of the Burgundy region. It is surrounded by the departments of Aube, Côte d’or, Nièvre, Loiret and Seine-et-Marne. Main cities are Auxerre, Avallon and Sens.

Yonne has ancient vestiges, historical monuments and museums, well-known vineyard such as Chablis, large green open spaces such as the one of Boutissaint in Puisaye and the regional natural park of Morvan.

Among remarkable sites are the cathedrale and museum of Sens, the treasure of the cathedrale that is one of the richest in France, which houses the liturgical garments that belonged to Thomas Becket, the Saint-Germain Abbey in Auxerre, the Vezelay hill, the medieval building site in Guedelon, the castles of Saint-Fargeau, Ancy-le-Franc, Maulnes, the caves of Arcy-sur-Cure and their prehistorical paintings of great importance.
