Tourism - Corrèze

Correze is a French department that is part of the Limousin region. It is surrounded by the department of Creuse, Haute-Vienne, Cantal, Puy-de-Dôme, Lot and Dordogne. Located west of the ‘Massif Central’ it can be divided in three parts: the mountain, the plateau and the Brive Bassin. The mountain part culminates at 987 m with Mount Bessou. The plateaux are carved by valleys leading to the Dordogne and going to the Gimel Cascades. In the south west, the Brive Bassin enjoys a better weather.

Several villages located in the south part of Correze and in the Dordogne Bassin are remarkable: Collonges-la-rouge, Curemonte, Turenne, Argentat and Uzerche to name only a few. The Haute-Correze is most notable for its peat bogs than for its villages while the ‘Pays de Tulle’ is characterised by sunken valleys of which many streams form of a very popular fishing area. A small part of the southern part of the department is taken by the northern tip of the ‘Causses du Quercy’. There, is the ‘Gouffre de la Fage’ and the famous ‘Lake of the Causse’.
