Tourism Lorgues

Lorgues is a typical Provencal town founded in the twelfth century by the Knights Templar. Its old quarter, narrow streets and old houses with old doors convey the atmosphere of medieval southern France and its relaxed lifestyle.

Lorgues History

From the Middle Ages, the town of Lorgues was known for the presence of famous monks of the Abbey Thoronet. Over 5, 6 and 9 th centuries, the Castrum of Lorge was fortified to withstand the onslaught of successive barbaric and Saracens.

Around 1150, the fortification wall (still visible today) was built around the city by the Knights Templar Commandery Riou.
