Thursday is party day in Lamballe in july and august (Les jeudis lamballais).

For 6 Thursdays in summer, Lamballe has a host of activities on offer.  Discover this charming historical town while filling up on unexpected emotions.

The market – one of the largest in the area!  It’s filled with new scents and impressions: colourful stalls and local produce.  Fancy a chocolate crèpe?

Tour of the organ, St Jean church: 11:30-12:30 - see it up close!  A recital followed by a closer look and your chance to meet the organist.  See article, page…

Medieval Garden: behind St Jean church – open all year round, a trip to the Middle Ages through forgotten flowers, fruits and vegetables with various medicinal uses. Free guided tours at 3pm (reservation not necessary).

Follow Frederick the Great!  This 2.4km circuit consists of 13 historical-themed plaques around Lamballe, each topped with a statuette of a caricature of Frederic II of Prussia.  The ornament is based on one to be seen on rooves around the town. Don’t forget to pick up your guide at the Office de Tourisme.

Haras Thursdays :On Lamballe Thursdays, horse carriage rides are available all day, to discover the town at a horse’s pace.  There are also guided visits of the Haras (national stud), the home of the Breton Poster horse.  The evenings see an equestrian spectacle, where man and horse work together to bring you a magnificent acrobatic show.

Sights and Sounds of the “Regalades”

Les Regalades – street festivities –market place and streets are transformed into a gallic banquet!  Take a seat at one of the big tables in the middle of the square, around which are stalls selling hot food.  The Regalades are the pillar of Lamballe Thursdays and welcome 18,000 each year for an affordable friendly family evening.  A stage hosts a range of acts to suit all musical tastes from Fest Noz to latin dance.  That’s the spirit of the Regalades!
