Meet Napoleon : A horse Emperor for posterity

Since 1988, year of celebration of the Assembly of Vizille , we lived in real time the bicentennial of the French Revolution and the Empire.

This historic 28-year cycle will end in 2015 with the defeat of Waterloo (June 18 1815) . However qq months ago, March 7, 1815 , Napoleon Bonaparte, deposed emperor , escaped from Elba Island, rallying to itself the French army at the entrance of Laffrey on the matheysin plateau.

After a quick passage in front of the castle of Vizille and a step in Grenoble , he continued his triumphant march to Paris.You this occasion, the French Revolution Museum will present an exhibition dedicated to equestrian bronze Napoleon 1st directed by Emmanuel Frémiet to the end of the Second Empire instead of Weapon Grenoble.

Ce masterpiece of sculpture , located since 1929 on the prairie of the meeting overlooking Lake Laffrey , in the place where Napoleon regained his imperial legitimacy , is in fact part of the museum's collections.
