Tourism Pontcharra
Pontcharra is located in the department of Isere and the Rhone-Alps area. Pontcharra is mainly built on a plain. The cityfinds itself between the mountain of Bramefarine and the Isere river. Located in an exceptional environment, the common offers a breathtaking panorama on the solid montain des Bauges and the Granier mount. Pontcharra was born from the unification of the parishes of Grignon and Villard-Benoit. The churches of these two small villages still exist today but none of them is used. The festival of the rosière was created in 1906 at the initiative of Alexis Paradis to reward each year the " smartest girl of the commune ". You can visit the tower of Avallon which was rebuilt in 1896 by the Carthusian monks on the ruins of a tower of guet of the native castle of Hugues d' Avallon.
